The quality control philosophy of TURBOMACHINERY is "first time right". Though we have a strong quality control and quality assurance team we think that it is extremely important for the quality process to be a continuous learning process for the converters and not merely an audit process.
The Quality Control is done in a three - step process:
Quality Plan:
Before the execution of project, quality plan indicating a) various quality checks involved in the execution of the project b) extent of check c) reference document/ acceptance norms d) inspection agency is sent to the customer for his approval. On receipt of his approval the job is executed as per the approved quality plan.
Quality Check:
Quality checking is a peer level process. The QC teams are a part of the production teams for a project. The QC team undergoes specific QC training at the beginning of every project so that they are familiar with the quality requirements of the project.
There are also quality check forms which are filled by the QC people after each quality check. These forms are used by the converters to correct errors and also act as an important tool for a future learning process to get good quality out put with QC tools.
Quality Assurance
The quality assurance team is not part of any project team but an independent group without deadlines, to ensure no slippage of quality due to deadline pressure. The QA team does sample checks on random samples during the duration of execution of a project. They also review QC reports which are being filled out by QC people to ensure that all required quality standards for the project are being maintained. At any point of time, if the QA team feels a slip of quality they would bring the matter to the notice of the Project Manager prompting corrective action.
The QA team also does final quality check on every deliverable before it is delivered to the customer. They also prepare final QA documentation after ensuring that the deliverables favorably measure to the acceptance criteria set in the quality plan for the project.
